Heo is the Los Angeles-based studio of artist and designer Karen Tong. As the daughter of Vietnamese refugees, and having spent 5 years living and working on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico, Tong’s aesthetic often floats at the intersection of seemingly incongruous worlds. Equally comfortable drawing inspiration from Bauhaus architecture, Pee-Wee Herman pop, Southeast Asian design and Southwestern desert forms, Tong’s work offers an unlikely and singular perspective.
